Days have passed I have seen troubles and tragedy crossing the river.
We have just crossed the river and days have been and long and peoples faith have been lost. I too was almost hit by these tragedy. My Ox has almost died by eating the loco weed. He went crazy and got very sick. Fortunately the ox was okay but the trails did not become easier. The days of the trek are tiring and are becoming longer as more days past. My name is Pat Richards I am a lone blacksmith with a pair of oxen, 2 horses and 1 cow. My job as blacksmith was great but then a couple of strange men threatened me to close my shop down or I would Be killed. Once I heard this I begin of thinking where to move and how I would get away so I decided to join the expedition to the west into California.
